Do you have a smartphone? Are you heading to Walt Disney World soon? I have some great apps to help you enjoy the parks! These are listed in no particular order, and all come with positive feedback.
*All apps are available for iPhone, and most are available for other platforms*
1. DisneyWorld Wait Times, Dining, and Maps from Undercover Tourist (free) This app has a trip planning feature, on-site dining information, wait times for rides, a GPS feature to help find your way around the parks, and even games for your little ones to play while waiting in line!
My favorite part? The in-depth dining coverage! Click on the dining icon and choose from any of the parks or resorts. You’ll be taken to a list of each restaurant in that area along with the phone number, a price range, a description of the restaurant, and (for most restaurants) a menu. Also, there are icons that tell you if the restaurant is part of the Disney Dining Plan, Tables in Wonderland, Annual Pass Discount, or Disney Vacation Club.
2. Hipstamatic D-Series (free) A disposable social camera for your smartphone. You invite friends to share the camera with you and collectively take photos of your day or event. When the photos are all taken, they automatically download to everyone’s phones. You can even have several cameras going at the same time.
My favorite part? None of the photographers can see the photos until the entire roll of pictures are taken – surprise!
3. Disney Parks Mobile Magic by Verizon (free) First choose from Walt Disney World or Disneyland, then off you go. Business hours for all parks and “extras” like the water parks and Downtown Disney are listed right on the main screen. Interactive maps are available, but not until you enter the park. Also, videos galore of everything you want to know about Disney.
My favorite part? Head to the “Today’s Events” section of the app to see where your favorite characters will be all day long. Set reminders to make sure you get autographs from every character you came to see!
4. Disney Memories (free) Take a photo within the app (or add one from your phone), change the background, and add stickers to give your photos some magic. You can unlock more stickers as you use the app, and it’s easy to share your photo creations to Twitter and Facebook. This is a great app for the kids to play with while in line. Little ones can make themselves pink or blue, add mouse ears to the top of their head, or add their favorite character beside them.
My favorite part? ”Updated magic abilities” was the reason for the last update to this app. They get points just for making me smile.
I’m on my way to the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration next week and am always looking for new apps to make my life a little easier. Which apps would you add to my list?
