Dialogue is Narrowing After Tea Parties

The Anti-Tax Tea Parties were a huge success in the eyes of many conservatives. Even some liberals joined in on the events because they are realizing the Obama administration is not adequately representing them. However, the dialogue between most conservatives and liberals is getting less constructive and more combative due to a lack of respect that originates on the liberal side.
One one side, you have the conservatives who are proud of the spur-of-the-moment, quick assembly rallies that took place on April 15th, 2009. The activists did something so fundamentally American and that their efforts should be applauded.
On the other side you have the liberals like Nancy Pelosi who state the tea parties were not a legitimate grassroots movements, rather astroturf and corporately dominated. There is also the highly respected journalist Arianna Huffington who said that the tea parties of the 15th were “pathetic, corporate lobbyist-backed tea parties [that] clearly didn’t do the trick. They were steeped in desperation. A bitter brew of misguided outrage and good-old-fashioned hate mongering.” Who is the hatemonger here? The humble anti-tax protesters, or the liberals who won’t hear them out?
The platform for open communication and dialogue is shaky, if not completely wrecked. By saying the tea parties were created by corporations is insulting to those that organized and protested in a tea party. Adding to the offense is the thoroughly inappropriate, sexually charged name the mainstream media gave to the protectors. It is a shame and an embarrassment to the left wing.
What happened to the culture of caring? When Obama gets back from his trip to Latin America, he is going to have to change his rhetoric from apologizing for America and start apologizing for his liberal constituents to the conservative citizens he now commands.
