Dropping the Ball
Do you everfeel like you have dropped the ball?
No?
Liar.
If you are a mom, there is a 100% chance that you feel the ball has been dropped somewhere, at some point. It’s not that you are a bad mom, it’s not that you are an incompetent mom… It is not that you shouldn’t be a mom. The reason you have dropped the ball *EVER* is simply because… you are a mom. We juggle many balls and it is inevitable that one will get dropped.
My own ball dropping is directly related to one thing… and one thing only — Too. Many. Balls.
The problem with too many balls is that one is not necessarily in control of which ball drops. Will it be the volunteer ball, the laundry ball, the email ball, the band-aid-buying ball, the dinner ball, the phone ball, the work ball, the wife ball, or the sleep ball?
It’s funny how my coffee ball rarely gets dropped, though.
I am in a personal crisis of late. I am overwhelmed. I have put too many balls in the air and now I am trying to figure out how to gracefully manage chaos. How do I let go of a ball without some fall-out? How did so many get up in the air in the first place?
I have been thinking about goals and purpose a lot lately. I have been thinking I need a clearer idea of my goals and purpose to help me choose. I need a filter.
Because regardless… life as a mom is a juggling act. We have many things to balance. Many choices to make… Just because something is a good thing, doesn’t make it the best thing…. especially if it ends up being dropped in the end.
