Easter Painting Craft for Kids
Celebrate Easter by creating a special Easter egg finger print painting with your child! This easy to make art activity will inspire your young artist to show off her creative talents while she designs a holiday decoration that can displayed in the home or given to a friend or family member.
Create dazzling detailed eggs filled with dots, patterns, shapes or help your child to make a simple one colored egg. She will love making these unique Easter prints with her very own hands, and you will enjoy helping her to express her artistic talents.
Materials Needed for Making Easter Egg Prints
- Tempera or finger paints
- Small paint brush
- Paint palette or washable art tray
- Construction paper
Steps to Create Easter Egg Finger Prints
- Make small puddles of the paint on a palette or washable art tray. Try using only the primary colors (red, blue, and yellow) and white for a budget friendly option. Your child can mix her own unique shades and hues in a rainbow of Easter inspired colors. This provides an added learning opportunity and will save you money on paint supplies.
- Ask your child to dip a finger into any paint color. Make sure she covers the whole tip of the finger from the knuckle line to the top.
- Press her finger onto the paper. It should make an oval (egg) shaped print.
- Use a thin paint brush to decorate the egg. Have your child add spots, stripes, or more color.
- Repeat for a basket full of eggs.
If you are looking to extend this project, try one (or more) of these optional steps:
- Sprinkle glitter over the wet paint for a special sparkle.
- Group many fingerprints together into one large egg. This can be one or many colors.
- Draw an Easter basket with crayons and markers on the paper before painting, and then fill it with egg prints.
- Use different colors or types of paper as a background. Try tissue paper, metallic paper, or even a patterned origami paper.
- Combine this with other Easter craft activities or try after decorating real Easter eggs.
