Homemade Orange Juice

Homemade orange juice does require effort, but the taste makes it worth the trouble. You can make orange juice either with a manual juicer or an electric juicer.
In the pictures below, I used an electric juicer that I received as a gift, but I have made it with a manual juicer as well. Both turn out great.
Recipe: Homemade Orange Juice
Summary: How to make homemade orange juice, either by manual or electric juicer
Ingredients
- Oranges
- Water (optional)
- Sugar to taste (optional)
Instructions
- For a manual juicer, cut oranges in half. Place orange over the juicer centered, and twist and push as you extract the juice.
- For an electric juicer, cut oranges and remove peels and seeds. Place the orange pulp into the juicer and process.
- Optionally, you can dilute it with a little water and, if it turns out a little bitter, add sugar to taste.

Very Nice Pictorial depiction of the content. I some how feel, any juice we buy from out side, will definitely have the artificial flavour-how ever fresh they claim it to be.. better prefer preparing at home

Thats so cool, I always wanted to do a sustainable kitchen project. I hate paying for expensive juice that no one ever drinks, great idea!
I like the pictorials as well. Making juice is a little decieving unfortunately. That’s why i like to make more of a smootie blend. Doing this I can use additional things like ice, yogurt, etc.
well what a downer , first i must have been on the wrong site I have a lemon ,orange, and grapefuit trees I juice daily for great lemonade, orangeade, and juice for any time i dont find it to be a mess as it takes less time to pop it into the dishwasher that to set it up . as for your cost well the fruit is free and what pacer pays 25 or even 50 dollars and hour you must be on the east coast. and live in a penthouse and not been in the real world for a while . I was looking for a way to preserve the juice.
i found this website via google. just wanted to say that when I juice oranges I add water and sugar to it. Still tastes fresh, you get more liquid, and it's not bitter :]
Like Teresa says, adding water is a good tip, especially if you are wanting young kidsto drink the juice. Looks like the juicer you used does not have a citrus attachment. A dedicated citrus juicer or with a citrus attachment saves you loads of preparation time as all you have to do is half the oranges.
Tropicana (and anyone who produces large quantities of orange juice) has machines that juice whole oranges. They even have these juicers at Jamba Juice. You just dump a box of oranges in and flip a switch.
Also, I read a book about the orange juice industry. I think it was called “Squeezed.”
