LiveBlogged: Power Marketing Presentation #Typeacon
1. Define your community
- Who you are and where are you going?
- If you are not making mistakes, then you are not trying. If it works, go with it. If it does not, then move on!
2. Build a List!
- Frequent and shorter blasts are better than monthly. Do weekly emails and remind them to come back.
- The email list is 10x more engaged than those that look at the site everyday.
- People are valuable, so connect with them.
- Offer RSS in addition to newsletters. Make the newsletter visible and available.
3. Survey your Community
- Find out where your community is.
- Use facebook and inspire people.
- Survey your community and understand what they want. Then give it to them.
4. Plan your Updates to Fit their Schedule and Likes
- Plan around your communities schedule.
- Majority of the people are on the east coast!
- Do not badger people …combine things without annoying your community.
- More twitter, but do not link twitter to facebook and linked in etc. But do tweet facebook and linked in posts!
5. Schedule your Updates
- Revive old posts and call them “classics,” “favorites,” etc. Brings back good evergreen articles
- Bring traffic to your blog.
6. Add Facebook LIKE buttons.
- Make it easy for people to like you and tweet you.
- Ask people to share your information. Tweet, Like, Suggest This, Share This.
7. Ask Community to RT, Share with Friends, etc.
8. Whoops. Missed it.
9. Create a Conversation
