Our Lady of Weight Loss Book Review

This book isn’t a diet book. You can find any number of those elsewhere, and if you’re a perpetual dieter like I am, you have several of them already in your possession. This book is more about the journey. It takes a tongue in cheek look at our habits and gives us a bit of motivation, or Kick in the Tush, as Our Lady describes it.
A few weeks ago I put a call out to find all sorts of new and interesting craft stories. One of them really stood out to me. Janice Taylor is the author of a book called Our Lady of Weight Loss: Miraculous and Motivational Musings from the Patron Saint of Permanent Fat Removal. My first thought was, “What does this have to do with crafting?” For Janice, her weight loss journey had a lot to do with crafting and it was a story I just had to share. “I exchanged fat for art,” she explains. Our Lady guides me and ‘feeds’ me messages, and I illustrate them.”
Sprinkled throughout the book are craft projects, recipes, and 42 Kicks in the Tush. The craft projects are eclectic, a little kooky, and meant to get you creating instead of eating junk food. From a “Battle of the Bulge Helmet,” to decoupaged planters for an indoor herb garden, these projects are fun and are designed to inspire you on your weight loss journey.
If you’re crafty, and you’ve got a few pounds to lose…I think you will enjoy this book. O Magazine described Janice as a “kooky genius” and I must agree. I found myself laughing along with this book and in the end, came away with some great advice and motivation for weight loss and crafting. You can purchase Our Lady of Weight Loss: Miraculous and Motivational Musings from the Patron Saint of Permanent Fat Removal by clicking this link or at your local book store. Her latest book, All Is Forgiven, Move On: Our Lady of Weight Loss’s 101 Fat-Burning Steps on Your Journey to Sveltesville
, is also available now.
