Summer is here! That means no more school. Just because school is over doesn’t mean the learning has to stop.

I don’t know about your kids, but mine (when left to their own devices) sometimes battle each other. Especially in the morning. This summer will be different.

I stumbled across this tutorial for a Journal Jar. It is brilliant and simple (two of my criteria for making things). I took an old pickle jar and got to decorating.

To fill it, I went to this site for some ideas to get me started. I printed them out, cut them into strips, and filled the jar!

Now every morning she will pull a strip of paper out and write about the the idea.

My youngest, who is 4, wanted some “homework” to do as well, so I gave her a journal where she can draw what she wants to do this summer.

After all, summertime is for playing too!
