Matthew and Benjamin, twin sons of my childhood friend, Andrea, are typical 4-year old boys. The are best buddies, and know when it’s time to take a break from each other. Already they have a sense of competition and I’m not sure if that’s a twin thing, or a boy thing. But they always seem to work it out. They also get along really well wtih big sister Annie.

Who is older?

M, “Me. I’m one minute older.”

Do you share a room?

B, “Yes, we sleep next….our beds are next to each other.”

M, “I only sleep in Ben’s bed one day.”

What’s the best thing about having a twin brother?

M, “Playing with toys.”

B, “Un huh.”

What’s the worst thing?

M, “Ben bees mad at me.”

B, “Matthew bees mad at me.”

M, “And sometimes I beat Ben at running. Sometimes he beats me.”

Are you in school?

M, “Yes, we’re in school together.”

Do you have the same friends?

B, “Chase, Jared…”

M, “and Jack.”

B, “Jared is Annie’s friend.”

What do you do when you are mad at each other?

M, “Ben goes downstairs when he’s mad at me.”

B, “He goes upstairs and I stay downstairs when I be mad at him.”
