NICU Editor Kristie McNealy

Kristie McNealy, MD, is the founder and president of NICU 101, an idea inspired by the premature birth of her own daughter at 31 weeks, and her 7 week stay in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).  Through NICU 101, she has devoted herself to education and advocacy for preemies and their families, as well as raising public awareness about the long-term effects of prematurity. While her preemie’s early arrival caused McNealy to indefinitely postpone her residency training and medical practice, it didn’t slow her down.  In addition to her work at NICU 101, she is also a freelance writer and medical blogger, partner in a social media based medical marketing company, and the mother of three great kids.  You can read more of her work at her women’s and children’s health blog.

Grandmothers editor: Sharon Cuoto

Sharon is a retired English/Reading teacher who now works with her two daughters at the family website pinksandblues.com . She is loving life more than ever as a mompreneur, or shall we say, grandpreneur. All four of Sharon’s children live nearby, and this means that she and her husband can spend the most wonderful times watching their 7 grandchildren (with 2 more arriving sometime this summer!) grow. Drumroll, please… the grandkids: 2 girls, ages 7 and 6; 5 boys, ages 5, 3, 3, 2, 1; another boy due in June, and a surprise in August. And oh, let’s not forget the 5 precious granddogs! Sharon loves to read, write, garden, cook, travel, yardsale, flea market and antique shop, and discover little restaurants (and bars!) to enjoy with her husband . Sharon and her husband also own a commercial printing company where their two sons and one daughter-in-law are employed. Sharon feels that she lives “The American Dream.”
