Oh yes I did! Valentine’s Day Oreo Pops. Oreo’s coated in candy and put on a stick. Your mouth is watering isn’t it?

I made a batch of these for the kids this past weekend and they were a huge hit! Not too expensive either. For under $20 you can have a classroom’s worth of treats that will please the kids and make you look like super mom. No really. All you’ll need to do after making these is sit back, don your tiara and cape and wait for the praise of your adoring public. I’m still waiting for mine…

oreo pops suppliesHere are the supplies you will need:

  • Wilton Hearts Cookie Candy Mold
  • Bag of Oreos – note: double stuf are too thick to be coated completely in the mold but work well to turn into pops.
  • Candy Melts in 2 colors (for an entire bag of cookies, I used 2-3 bags of the main color and 1 of the contrast)
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Wilton Melting/Decorating Bottles (one for each color)
  • bags and ties if you are going to wrap these individually
First I melted the pink (contrast color) candy melts per the package instructions, inside the decorating bottle. I filled all of the hearts cavities and let harden. You can quicken the process by popping these in the freezer for 5-10 minutes.

Next I filled the mold about 1/3 full with the white (or your main color) candy melts and placed the cookie on top. I filled in around the cookies with more of the white candy melts. I used Double Stuf Oreos so the backs were left exposed. You could try to cover them or leave them, really it’s up to you. I spread a thin layer of the melts on the backside of the cookies on about half of them.  I then put them in the freezer to harden for 15 minutes.

Once the candy melts had hardened, they easily fell out of the molds. I used a sharp knife to clean up the edges and they were ready to eat.
Don’t they look delicious?!

But…
I didn’t stop there. I decided everything is better when on a stick. Look at corn dogs, lollipops and cake pops! All better when attached to a stick right?! But this is also where it gets a little tricky. I took a sharp knife and sort of “drilled” a small hole in the bottom of the cookie. Then dipped the lollipop stick into hot melted candy melts and carefully, but with a little force, got that sucker in the cookie. I put them back in the freezer for another few minutes and then they were finally finished!

My official taste tester quickly ate the one I made special for him to test, and then promptly begged me for more.
