General Info

The 2018 Type-A Parent Conference is September 27 – 29, 2018 at The Drake Hotel, 140 East Walton Place, Chicago, IL 60611.

The first event for VIP ticket holders, Brands & Sponsors is Networking Cocktails on Wednesday at 8:00 pm.
The first event for Bloggers is the Welcome Reception on Thursday at 8:00 pm.

The last event for the conference is the Closing Ceremony & Party on Saturday from 8-11:00 pm.

Registration / Badge Pickup

VIP ticket holders, brands and agencies can pick up their badges starting at 4:00 pm on Wednesday or 8:00 am on Thursday.

Everyone can pick up their badge starting at 6:00 pm on Thursday or 7:30 am Friday or Saturday.

Getting There


MDW - Midway

Many of you will be flying into Midway, located at 5700 S Cicero Ave, Chicago, IL 60638. To get to the hotel from Midway, you can take a car or train. The loading zone for rideshare services (Lyft / Uber) is on the Lower Level Outside of Baggage Claim. The typical cost for ridesharing from Midway to The Drake is $28 - $39. If you're looking for a taxi, taxi stands are located on the lower level curbfront of the terminals. Midway to The Drake via taxi costs between $28 - $30.

The cheapest way to get to The Drake from Midway ($2.50) is via the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). Take Orange Line Loop to Roosevelt (20 minutes) then transfer to Red Line Howard (7 minutes). Finally, complete your trip by walking to The Drake.

ORD - O'Hare

If you're not flying into Midway, then you're landing at O'Hare: 10,000 West O'Hare Ave, Chicago, IL 60666. To grab Lyft or Uber, you'll need to find the loading zones for Rideshare services :

  • Upper Level between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2
  • Upper Level between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3
  • Lower Level Terminal 5 exit Door 5C
  • Uber Black and Uber Taxi will pick up on the Lower Level

Rides via Lyft are $26 - $36 while Uber is $35 - $45.

There are also Taxi Stands at the lower level curb front (outside of Baggage Claim) at each terminal. A taxi to The Drake will cost between $30 - $40.

Trains from O'Hare can be found at the lower level of the parking garage. Walk through the pedestrian tunnel at each domestic terminal to reach the station and follow the "Trains to City" on the overhead wayfinding signs. The Blue Line will take you to Forest Park, where there are multiple options to finish your trip.

Train / Amtrak

Trains into Chicago will put you at Union Station, 225 S. Canal St, Chicago, IL 60606. Once you arrive, ridesharing to The Drake will cost between $9 - $16.


If you're driving to The Drake, set your GPS for 140 East Walton Place, Chicago, IL 60611. Valet parking is available for $70 / day or you can self-park 1 block away for $49 / day.
