Charity Spotlight: First Candle

We are excited to announce that First Candle is the Spotlight Charity for the Type-A Parent and Lifestyle Blogger Conference. This amazing organization brings comfort to grieving families and hope for a future with far fewer sleep-related infant deaths.

About First Candle

First Candle is the national non-profit committed to ending Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and other sleep-related infant deaths while providing bereavement support for families who have lost a baby. Every year 3,500 babies die from one of these issues and remains the leading cause of death for babies one month to one year of age. We educate care providers and parents through our Straight Talk for Infant Safe Sleep program on how to prevent sleep-related infant deaths by following the safe sleep guidelines developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Who Should Connect with First Candle

We asked First Candle who they were hoping to meet with at the conference, and this is what they told us:

First Candle would like to connect with bloggers who reach parents and caregivers to help us promote the safe sleep guidelines and be sure all images online depict babies in safe sleep settings.

When you check in and grab your badge, be on the lookout for information from First Candle. Their founders will be presenting information about their organization during our Friday break. They’ll also have a table in the Expo Hall where you can chat with them about the work they are doing and how you can get involved.
